Hi everyone,
I'm trying to install FYM and I keep getting this error message when I try to run the FYM program:
Error9002: Cannot find file FYMYMNames.zip...FYM terminating. Check instillation of FYM, Or contact system development team.
It seems to get through most of the download sequence and keeps getting stuck on this point.
I emailed Jim and he suggested it may be my connection to the server and check that my firewall allows fym read/write access to the internet and try rebooting router . I turned off my firewall and rebooted but it still gives me this error message.
Any ideas so I can begin gameplay? Thanks all!
Shawn

This has worked for others in the past, so you might want to try it. Delete the FYMYNames.ini file and then start FYM Online.

I don't have that file...that seems to be the problem. I get all the way through the install, I click on the FYManager icon to begin startup, it starts to go to the online portal and begins what looks like a files download, it goes through it for about 5 minutes and then I keep getting the error message.
I don't know what else to do or where to look for this file you said to delete. I noticed on the main website under the downloads page along the right hand side there is a section that says this:
Place file in [ROOT]\server1\ - do not unzip these files. These files are normally downloaded on FYM startup. You should only download here if you experience problems starting FYM.
Click here to download FYMYMNames.zip - file containing the usernames, real name and email address of all registered players.
Well when I try to download that file, which is the one the error message is telling me I need, it says this file is pasword protected, and to enter the password to continue. I looked in my server 1 folder, and it does not currently exist.
Getting frustrated but appreciate your help!
Thanks,
Shawn

I've read the several previous posts where this has been an issue, and have yet to find a solution. I've tried:
Rebooting modem Adding Command Line Arguments to try to access the server differently Turning OFF my firewall. Adding FYM to programs allowed through the firewall.
Anybody?

Shawn, While I am not the person who should dole out technical information or help I did visit the FYM web page as you did and found the file that you need as you described it. I clicked on it and was given three options: 1. open the file 2. save the file and 3. save as the file. Don't try to open the file! It is probably password protected and contains things that you can't edit. Rather, save it to your downloads or somewhere else on your computer like your desktop. Don't save as unless you intend to change the name back. Once you do that, go to where ever you save downloads on your computer and move it or copy it to the FYM folder as instructed.
If this is redundant advice, I apologize. But it appeared from your message that you were trying to OPEN the file.

Shawn, send Jim Hill an email so he can register you as a player and hopefully that will allow you to download the game. Rolland

Hey there, Thanks so much for the idea...I tried what you suggested and it didn't work I tried moving the copied file to several different places and it keeps giving me the same error message. I see from other threads that others have experienced this exact same problem in the past. Because my membership to the group is still awaiting staff approval, I cant message them directly and ask how they solved it. If anyone reads this could you possibly point those from the other threads describing this exact problem over my way so perhaps they can lend a hand? Thanks, Shawn

Shawn I could be wrong, but it seems in all the time I have been in this game I have never seen anybody download and start playing without seeing their name listed in the player's list.

OK....how would I see my name in the players list if I cant even access the game? I emailed Jim and asked to be added as a player, but from what I remember in the instructions, you have to log in and play the tutorial first, then once that's complete, you could apply to add your name??? I can't even get the game to download/open....

I sent him an email. He said it won't help, and I need to have the game running first.
I'm still looking for help with this issue and am all ears for a solution.

Just copy and paste that downloaded FYMYMNames.zip file to your server 1 folder. Start FYM.

On the website there is a link to click and download that file if you're having trouble with instillation. When you click it, it downloads the actual file. When you attempt to copy and paste it, which is the file it apparently cant download from the startup process, it says the file is password protected. I emailed Jim about this and he said that's not the file I need, and that file is only good to play the game offline. So, apparently, the file it can't download, and the file on the website that's exactly listed under, download this if you have problems, isn't the file I need.
I tried just copying the FYMNames.zip folder, and was able to move that into the server1 folder....that didn't work.
Should it really be this hard?
Sorry. Just getting frustrated. Thank you for trying to help. Still listening for ideas.
