Have you worked through the Help Document - Troubleshoot Connection Problems ?

Yes I have. None of the suggestions listed there have helped. As per our discussion, I've tried changing the MTU value in my router. I've gone through several variations, down to and including THE LOWEST possible value. Nothing is working. You indicated that the problem lies with my connection to the server, thus changing the mtu value should be the fix to this. When I run a ping test to your server, I am getting absolutely NO packet loss at the MAXIMUM MTU value of 1492. In other words, there was no data fragmentation at the default higher Maximum Transfer Unit speed. So why would lowering it help? I've tired several iterations of CLA's, and with no CLA's at all, at several different MTU values. The -BOR CLA seems to get it close to working, but still fails. I've been on the phone with my Internet service providers technical support for an hour looking for other solutions, and have been researching online for hours to find a way to simply connect to this server. I was really looking forward to joining this community and enjoying this game, but this has become incredibly frustrating to the point where I'm about ready to give up and go back to simply playing Trainz I just don't understand why this has to be so difficult! If anyone has any idea about how to fix this, short of me getting a doctoral in computer science....I'm all ears. If anybody reads this, perhaps a message in the chat feature of the game to anyone who would listen could help put this problem in front of more eyes....THANKS! Shawn

Shawn Shawn, It isn't cool to spam the forum. What router are you using? What is the exact error. Kim

Hi Kim,
Was not my intent to spam anything. That's why I attempted to direct everyone to this one post. Sorry if it looked that way...
I'm using a Netgear 7550 wireless dsl router with Frontier as the ISP.
I’m getting the following error message when attempt to open FYM(for the first time after new install):
Error9002: Cannot find file FYMYMNames.zip...FYM terminating. Check instillation of FYM, Or contact system development team.
Thanks for trying to help!

Do you have a security level set on the router? If so, what is it?
"The following screen will appear if you select Security > Security Level from the main menu."

Shawn, do you have skype or something that does screen sharing, I could probably walk you through the install, but I can't seem to find the manual for the Netgear 7550.

I sent you a PM with my email. Please send me a screenshot of your router configuration. We will see if we can get this figured out.

The saga continues in the case of the amazing appearing/disappearing files: After more troubleshooting, I have discovered what we(Jim and I), think the problem is. When I attempt to start up FYM, and connect to the server, it begins to download the needed files into the "server1" folder. They populate, remain for a few seconds, and the POOF....disappear into the abyss! At first we thought it was my firewall or security settings. I turned EVERYTHING off. It kept doing it. Then we thought it was a windows vista issue. I attempted installing on my wife's computer running windows 7. It does the same exact thing. The files come in, sit, and poof. Gone. I'm going to keep looking to see if I've missed something in my security/firewall settings. I even specifically turned off the "automatically delete files you don't recognize" security feature...and I'm going to google search for a solution, but if anybody has any thoughts,,,,,I'm STILL all ears. I bet it is your anti-virus. Sounds very much like the type of activity an anti-virus would do.

He said his anti-virus was not active.

Looks like the server is responding with "425 sorry, invalid address given"
This might be caused by reverse DNS lookups failing. Looks like shawn222 doesn't have a reverse DNS configured. Jim could try tweaking the server not to do reverse DNS looksup, but that is up to Jim.

Hi everybody,
I just wanted to share the details of the solution I found to my problem with this issue.
First I want to thank player kim27 for spending so much time with assisting me with finding the issue I ultimately needed to get fixed. Also, thanks to Dragon27(Jim) for attempting to troubleshoot and help as well. I truly appreciate you guys taking time out of your personal lives to try to assist me!
As it turns out, I needed to have something called "reverse DNS entry" with my internet service. Due to the way the FYM server is configured, I couldn't communicate with the server. To the best of my understanding, and in laymens terms, I could talk to the server, but I don't think the server could talk to me. Kim, if I'm describing this wrong, please feel free to correct me. Anyway, here was the fix:
Due to my Internet service provider, I had to upgrade to a business line with a STATIC IP address. The second they configured me this way, I was able to access the server. As a side note, I'm using the -BOR cla. I was trying different cla's before my line was upgraded, and this was the last one I tried. It may work without it, but its working now so I'm going to leave it!
I hope this helps. If anyone has this issue in the future, please feel free to PM me and I would love to try to assist. Thanks everyone and see you online.
