Right click on either one and select properties. The security tab will show you per user or group if you can read or write the given directory or file. Also have you tried downloading the update from the website and installing it? Another thought is to disable your antivirus to see if it will update successfully. Then turn your antivirus back on before starting the game. And lastly. Do you have the game installed in a location that will sync to a cloud storage service? ie Google Drive, Dropbox, etc. First, I am running Windows 7. No security tab, but it did show Read only. I unchecked that and hit apply, but it still didn't work. (btw, everytime I go back to the folder, it is marked Read only again). I have tried dl'ing the update from the website; no difference. I don't have an antivirus running at the moment. It is installed on a flashdrive. Not sure if that will link with a cloud service or not. fyi, I can still run FYM offline using 5.11.27, so I can run trains, just not upload/download. Paul
Have you tried installing the game to a different location? Even if it is still on your E:\ drive, just a different directory? It looks like if you have no security tab your disk must not be formatted as NTFS. Is that the case? It should say if you right click on the disk (E:) and select properties. It should say "File System:"

I've tried every thing I can think of and I still can't get the lastest version of FYM to start, check the security properties and it's only showing Windows 8, no Win 10 listing at all in the compatibility! hectrain It shouldn't need to be run in compatibility mode, at least Danny never said anyone was to his knowledge. What version of Windows are you running? I'm not sure what would control which compatibility options are available. The game is running on a very old version of .Net so it may be the reason you don't see those other compatibility modes? Looking at mine it also only lists Windows 8 as the highest version of windows in there. Also you mention security properties, but the security tab I'm talking about doesn't have the compatibility settings under it. Not sure if you were trying to follow my instructions or not though. Back to the initial problem. Do you get any error at all? If you don't go look in the Event Viewer. Under Windows Logs and then Application. I've seen messages from the game when it fails to start in there. Also you don't mention if you let the game update on it's own, or did the upgrade by downloading the newest version and running it. Also if any of these steps were done as a normal user, or as an Administrator?

I was thinking about installing to a different location. I wasn't sure if that would mess things up more or not. I'll try that next. Yes, the flashdrive seems to be FAT32, not NTFS.

I keep getting the same message: Installation Incomplete The installer was interrupted before Freight Yard Manager could be installed. You need to restart the installer to try again. Click "Close" to exit

Can either of you try the following from a command prompt? You will need to be in the same directory as the installer, or add the full path to the installer. Also make sure whatever directory you are in that you can write files so the installer_log.txt will work. In any case, can you email me the log file after it fails.
msiexec /i FYMInstaller_V5.11.28.msi /l*v installer_log.txt
if you need to run this as an administrator I believe you need this command
msiexec /a FYMInstaller_V5.11.28.msi /l*v installer_log.txt

have just tried to run FYM and i cannot get passed 'uploading yard backups'. The full page (chat page and train page) shows for about 2 seconds then it goes back to the openng screen with the uploading yard backup message. Any one else encountered the same? Also have to mention the explorer has also updated so wether that is a factor, probably. Does anyone have any suggestions. Have reinstalled FYM but it still does not get passed the message.

Base on a chat discussion, I am pretty sure this behavior was caused by local network, given that Brian says he is traveling in Trinidad and no one else is experiencing the problem.
