Hi, my friend is currently trying to update his game, and is having trouble with the installer. When right clicking the installer and choosing "repair", it responds that it needs to be installed first. However, the game is installed and when run says that it requires an update. Please help.

Why is he right clicking the installer? The latest installer should just be downloaded from the website and run like any normal program.

Upon running it normally it will begin a new installation, we think. We suspect this because it does not give us the option to update/remove the game.

make sure it is pointing to the location of the current FYM installation

If FYM was previously installed, the installer is designed to automatically pick the already installed location and update FYM - as Richard says, check that the install location points to the current location. I've yet to hear of any failures of the revised installer to do so.

I'm not sure exactly what error you're getting Siegfried. Could you try the V5.5.7 installer? If that fails, a copy of the error text, or a screenshot, would be helpful.
There isn't any custom code in the current installer to make any install location invalid; any error message will come from the standard Windows installer program.

Hi Danny, I tried the download on all devices (C,D,E -there is FYM) and in "Programm files"
reaction just the same: after download message: 1) program not sure, do you want the install ? after: yes
2)invalid D (C,E) and 3) "download incomplete - try again" -
I think the new installer has a Problem with Windows 10

The installer works fine with Windows 10. I don't understand a lot of your description. Maybe this helps: --download the installer: save it somewhere --doubleclick to run it --make sure the installer is pointing to the location of your FYM install --choose "repair" if asked
This should work. If not, please say in what of the above steps you are failing.

Hi Richard,
1) I tried to save at all possible devices 2) Windows message: Programm possible Risk, do you want it, despite the warning? - after yes download (FYM is accepted programm for the Firewall) 3) after doubleclick: invalid device D: (Location of FYM), even have selected another device 4) message: incomplete DL -closed - and try DL again
and no Question on what device the DL should be

I don't know what D: is, but I wonder if this is a USB or mapped network drive that may be inaccessible. Can you confirm you are able to access it in another way, and that you have administrative rights to install there? Keep in mind that FYM now uses the windows native add/remove programs structure. If you have manually moved something, windows may be getting confused. If I were you, I would try manually back up [FYMroot]\server1, then uninstall FYM using windows add/remove programs, attempt the install as a fresh install somewhere on C:. If that succeeds, overwrite server1 with your backup copy.

D: ist extern device; cut off for the following procedure: but FYM on device C:+ E, could not deleted by Windows, but manually. after the delete FYM Installer is searching D. ( no Question to install C or E) and noticed again "invalid device D:", and "incomplete DL, try again".

To fix this: 1. No more manual moving or removing of FYM (except the server1 data, which is OK to copy around manually). This confuses windows and can lead to installer failure. 2. If you install to an external device, that device must be there and mapped with the same drive letter when you modify the install. 3. You must clean up whatever remnant information is in the windows add/remove programs if it points to an non-existent installation. Make sure windows knows where FYM is. If FYM is where windows expects it to be, the installer will work.
**None of this information is unique to FYM. These are all basic windows functions.

Sorry it took so long to reply. He verified that FYM is installed in C:/FYM. The problem is that when he runs the installer, it claims that the app is not installed. It would be easiest if you contact him and discuss it directly with him, probably. His username is jaxman136.
